Can there be a good explanation as to why Deadline, Hollywood Reporter, A.V Club, Entertainment Weekly, The Wrap and Zap 2 it, so far, have stated that the Kroll show was renewed because it averaged 1.1 million viewers? Is in normal for them to not mention the numbers when it came to demographics?
Well, I don't know about these things. Or, I know very little. But, I do know about demographics and desired demographics. That's pretty much layman stuff. And, I do know that Kroll is a liar of the dirtiest kind, and that he is capable of murdering (or being the proximate cause of murder(RIP LAPD officer Jacqueline Montalvo), perjury, railroading of innocent people into Patton or Prison etc.
I also know comedy and humor. And, though there is this old saw about things like comedy or beauty being subjective -- I feel extremely confident that his show is a testament to going far on money, power, and ruthlessness, and not humor. The show is a laugh free affair. Nada. Nothing. Guffaws, no way. Not even a chuckle.
Sure, some have decent concepts, but the execution is terrible. I've never seen anything so lacking on TV, and I've seen lots of lacking productions.
The sensibility is not the worst, but the follow through, and the writing ruin whatever grain of promise might exist.
Nick Kroll has no idea about nuance, and his characters all evidence his lack of comedic skill or instinct. You can't buy that kind of talent, I'm guessing, and I doubt Kroll will develop much considering his ability to shield himself from suffering, by scamming and scheming his way into the illusion of success. Not to mention the kind of wealth and access that Kroll Inc. has bought him. What he did to me, makes it clear he is sociopathic, and so the question becomes interesting- can a sociopath ever be truly funny when he's missing the human part of hum-or?
I can tell that Kroll is used to getting laughs, based on what he can do for a career, not because he's funny. He therefore thinks he's funny, but the reality is... the guy is not just not funny, he's a comedy killer. Maybe, he can appreciate humor, but he cannot produce it. Add insult to injury, he stops true comedic talents from succeeding.
Anyway, that is more complicated. Why I find him so astoundingly loathsome is also complicated, since his family name has stayed under the radar, for so long. Most just see a weak chinned shlub, and though I see that too, I see someone who misused his power in ways that still blow my poor blown to(smithereens) mind.
Let's stick to what I see as some very suspicious misrepresentation of the numbers/Ratings for Kroll Show.
Deadline Hollywood. last year, got it all wrong and returned to get it wrong again.
Last year:http://www.deadline.com/2013/01/comedy-centrals-kroll-show-renewed/
The premiere of Kroll Show on January 16 drew 1.4 million total viewers and was the #1 show in all of television on Wednesday in its 10:30 p.m. timeslot among Men 18-34 and Men 18-24. Across the premiere and two encore replays that night, Kroll Show averaged over 2.0 million total viewers and 1.6 million adults 18-49.
This year, Deadline Hollywood said this:
The second season airing at 10:30 PM Tuesdays is averaging 1.1 million total viewers.
The Wrap went along :http://www.thewrap.com/kroll-show-renewed-comedy-central-third-season-video/
“Kroll Show,” was picked up by the cable network for a third series. The second season, which debuted on January, is averaging 1.1 million total viewers.
Hollywood Reporter lent their credibility too:-http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/kroll-show-renewed-third-season-686423
"The sketch comedy series from creator, writer and star Kroll will return after its sophomore season has been averaging 1.1 million viewers on Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m."
Entertainment Weekly made it more official:-http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/03/06/kroll-show-renewed-by-comedy-central/
" Kroll Show, which airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m., has been averaging 1.1 million viewers."
Zap 2 it is the premier ratings place so you'd think they'd get it right
http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/03/rectify-returns-to-sundance-in-june-comedy-central-renews-kroll-show-for-season-3.html
Comedy Central has renewed "Kroll Show" for a third season. The sketch show starring and created by Nick Kroll has been averaging 1.1 million viewers in overnight ratings for Season 2; there's no word yet on when Season 3 will premiere
So, is that true? No, it's absolutely false! And, I would love to hear someone dispute the fact that these numbers are false! And, then I'd love to hear someone admit to why these numbers are false.
Ahem!
The first season's ratings proved easy to find, thanks to the TV-A holic blog: bloghttp://tvaholics.blogspot.com/2013/03/ratings-review-kroll-show.html
Freshman comedy series KROLL apparently did not click with viewers. The 1.2 million viewers it received from the series premiere is not too bad, but the drop of 41% to its lowest point, normally would have eliminated it from a possible second season. However, it was picked up before the third episode aired and the ratings began to free-fall.
I know it was difficult to find ratings for the series as most sourced do not publish programs that are that far down in the daily numbers. But I did at least find viewership numbers. KROLL SHOW averaged 880,000 viewers over the eight week season.
KROLL SHOW (Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m., on Comedy Central)
Date | Viewers* | |
01/16/13 | 1.19 | |
01/23/13 | 1.04 | |
01/30/13 | 0.84 | |
02/06/13 | 0.82 | |
02/13/13 | 0.70 | |
02/20/13 | 0.79 | |
02/27/13 | 0.71 | |
03/06/13 | 0.93 |
So, let's go with the 880, 000 average given us by TV-A- Aholic, and add the seconds seasons viewership numbers to see if the 1.1 average ratings makes any sense.
Kroll Show- First show second season(January 14th 2014)

So, really a O.44 in ratings speak and 760k viewers?
Second Show(January 21st 2014) Futon Critic-
Kroll Show (10:30) - Comedy Central0.669 million viewers, #49; 0.517 million adults 18-49 (0.41 rating), #33

Hmmm...

I hate math, so you do the numbers. Anyway to justify the 1.1, yet?
In February, how did Kroll Show do? Did the rating skyrocket in a way that makes that 1.1 a viable average?

February 18th 2014- can't find but would bet whatever Kroll stole from me that it didn't assist that 1.1 number. I will post it the minute I find it.

March 11 2014- I can't find it yet, but will post it when I do.
Now, the point is not if these are good ratings or bad. I don't know what they mean, when it comes to renewal. I don't know who his massive advertising campaigns and other factors factor in to the renewal.
The point is that this 1.1 figure has to be false. And, why? Also, why would Deadline so misrepresent the first season's ratings?
